Salary: £30,000 – 35,000 p.a.
Overview of the company and role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Internal Technical Sales Engineer to join our team working from our office based in Redditch.
Our business is an established company supplying products & services within the magnetic separation environment, covering industries ranging from mining and quarry, pharmaceutical, minerals, food, plastics, recycling, and more industries worldwide.
The ideal candidate should have a mechanical engineering background and qualified with a form of engineering education preferably with experience in magnetic separation or one of the industries mentioned above with the ability to liaise with both clients, suppliers, and external sales engineers on a daily basis. They must be a great team player who is also comfortable working under their own initiative and who is committed to growing with the company.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Working alongside a strong internal team, as a unit to fulfil the common goal of driving sales and revenue to grow the business
- Preparation and production of technical sales quotations for clients based on technical specifications and drawings.
- Supporting outside sales teams by offering technical advice and assisting with bids and tenders
- Communicating with customers to understand their specific requirements and provide technical solutions to progress quotations and secure purchase orders.
- Understand technical concepts and being able to translate complex concepts into easily understandable terms for clients and sales teams.
- Maintaining expert-level product knowledge
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers.
- Preparation of project cost sheets from internal references and external quotation gathering from suppliers and pricing documentation
- Maintaining accurate records of opportunities and correspondence in our ERP system Epicor as well as communicating to the Sales team in weekly Sales team meetings
- Build on ongoing client relationships to increase enquiry & order levels.
Skills required:
- Experience of working within a sales engineering or technical sales role is preferred.
- Engineering qualification, typically HNC/HND or degree level, preferably in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering
- Strong technical background and mindset with demonstrable experience of reading and interpreting technical drawings & specifications.
- Experience with producing technical quotations for mechanical equipment in a materials handling capacity or similar industrial industry is preferable.
- Experience of understanding technical quotations and specifications from sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Familiarity with UK material handling equipment.
- Excellent communication skills required, both verbally and written with great interpersonal skills.
- Commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Excellent numeracy required, candidates must have GCSE Math's & English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
