Implementation expected June 2025
BMRA welcomes the announcement by the Government that the sale of disposable vapes will be banned in England and Wales from June next year.
As they contain a lithium-ion battery, when disposed of incorrectly single use vapes are causing countless fires across the waste sector causing costly damage not only to recycling companies but also local authorities.
More importantly, the vitally important lithium contained within the battery is lost forever. Key to this ban’s success, however, will be its enforcement.
