Annual membership event welcomed some very special guests

The BMRA Golf Day and Summer Dinner teed off with some very special guests joining the teams for a photo call at the Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort.
President Susie Burrage OBE’s charity for 2024, Guide Dogs, joined the golfers ahead of the start of play for a meet and greet, where BMRA members could speak with volunteers and dog trainers to understand more about the work that the charity does.
The day started with the BMRA AGM, in which two new board members were elected: Anthony Bird of International Metals and Cable Recycling and Dave Weston of John Lawrie Metals.

Attendees were able to meet dogs at different stages of their ‘career’, with puppies Jasper (bought by trainers Peter and Susie Bell) and Comet (bought by trainer Helen Owen), and the Labradoodle, Yusef (bought by his visually impaired owner, Hayley Dyson). Thanks to Sue Nicholas for arranging and the team at Guide Dogs in Telford for joining us.
As the teams went out, conditions were perfect for golf, not too hot or blustery.
After play, the golf teams were able to meet up at the drinks reception, kindly sponsored by Enicor, ahead of the Summer Dinner.
Attendees enjoyed a three-course meal with wine (kindly sponsored by Total Waste Management

and Danieli UK Holdings), while there was a raffle in support of Guide Dogs, raising just over £1,000, a great start ahead of fundraising at the Annual Dinner in November.
The prizes for the golf were also given, with the team from ELG winning the team competition and Lewis Robertson from Atlas Commodities winning the individual competition.
Thank you to our generous members who both sponsored and donated to the raffle, for making the event the success that it is.
