2024 saw the introduction of the YBMR Rising Star award, presented to an employee of a BMRA member company who is 40 or under.

There were many entries, from across the membership, metal recyclers and service members. The winner, selected by the BMRA Board, is recognised for demonstrating exceptional talent within the sector, providing significant contributions to their organisation and inspiring colleagues around them

The inaugural recipient was Dylan Pratt, Head of Car Depollution, Southwark Metals.

Dylan, nominated by his company is 21-years-old and has ventured into an industry facing challenges in hiring individuals of this age. They say that Dylan has shown remarkable progress having joined Southwark Metals directly from school. Although he initially faced difficulties with the workload, hours, and pressure, he persevered. Dylan spearheaded the establishment of a new sector in Southwark Metals’ business focusing on car pollution.

Furthermore, he proactively sought new business opportunities, securing an impressive £560,000 in new deals last quarter. His dedication and respectful demeanour towards everyone he encounters make him a strong candidate for future management roles within our company. They believe Dylan truly deserves recognition for his hard work and outstanding abilities.
